BAUW's allocation process weighs the effectiveness and efficiency of each agency along with the community needs detailed by the Healthier Barrington Needs Survey. All agencies applying for funds must complete a detailed application that defines the local beneficiaries of their programs as well as outcome results. Community volunteers evaluate the applications and conduct site interviews with the agencies before determining final funding allocations.
Containing Costs...Volunteer Driven
Community volunteers play a major role in the allocation and assessment process. These dedicated volunteers allow BAUW to keep overhead expenses to a minimum while ensuring the most effective use of community contributions.
Community Impact
Barrington Area United Way goes beyond raising and distributing money. We partner with community groups to explore solutions to long-term problems. Recent examples include helping to organize community response to Hirricane Katrina relief, and assisting in the formation and continuing work of the Community Drug Prevention Coalition.
The Communities We Serve
Barrington Area United Way supports health and human services in the area within School District 220's boundaries. This includes Barrington, North Barrington, South Barrington, Barrington Hills, Lake Barrington, Deer Park and Tower Lakes, as well as parts of Fox River Grove, Carpentersville, Hoffman Estates and Inverness.
