We are your local United Way. We focus on the needs of our Community. Through our local campaigns, we raise funds to support local agencies, serving local needs.
There is no other organization that provides more comprehensive funding to such a wide range of agencies in our own community. BAUW supports over 45 programs that focus on providing services for youth and their familes, helping seniors live more independent lives, offering counseiling and prevention services for those in need, and assisting the mentally/physically challenged residents.
BAUW focuses on issues that matter most to our families, neighbors, friends, and co-workers. Our fund allocation process is guided by the survey results from the Healthier Barrington Project Survey, and we use these survey results to direct funding into areas of health and human services that community residents have ranked as most important.

At the BAUW we are making a difference in our community. We are addressing and resolving the social challenges of our youth, our elderly, and thos less fortunate than ourselves. That is what this is all about. It is why we do what we do. It is why we need your help and support.

Our Mission: To Mobilize the Caring Power of Our Community
Simply said, we do what no one else does. We enthusiastically raise funds from local sources; We carefully evaluate community needs through a comprehensive Needs Assessment; We thoroughly evaluate/review/validate the effectiveness and impact of local health and human service agencies; and we allocate funds to those agencies effectively meeting the needs of the community.

We Are Efficient We are volunteer driven, which keeps our overhead costs to a minimum.
Who Do We Serve
Your Parents. Your Children. Your Neighbors. The Barrington Area United Way service area covers the entire region covered by the CUSD-220 school district.
Making a Difference in Our Community
- Counseling services to over 1,000 Barrington youth & their families.
- Meals to 210 Barrington seniors in need.
- Job search education & counseling to 121 Barrington residents.
- Grief counseling & support to 435 Barrington family members who have suffered the loss of a loved one.
