The Barrington Area United Way Youth Board is dedicated to the advancement of youth and their families. The Board is composed of Barrington and St. Viator High school students who reside in the District 220 school boundaries. These students are committed and compassionate young adults who are planting the seeds of philanthropy for future generations of volunteers.
Each year, the students execute fundraising events and determine service projects to benefit children and their families in our communities. For 2008-2009, funding included: The "Stuff the Bus" program, a Youth Board initiative aimed at insuring that every District 220 student receives the necessary school supplies to begin each school year, and Barrington Giving Day, a community wide program providing goods to families in need during the holiday season.
In addition to these projects, the BAUW Youth Board partnered with the Barrington High School Brothers Keeper Program and provided 60 backpacks filled with school supplies and classroom art supplies for the children of the Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota nations of South Dakota.
